What is Personality?

Unique way each individual thinks, acts, and feels throughout life. |

|

Oral Stage
|
0-18 months. Erogenous zone is the mouth. Weaning that occurs too soon or too late can result in an orally fixated adult personality (over eating, drinking too much, chain smoking, talking too much, nail biting, etc.)

Anal Stage
|
18-36 months. Erogenous zone is the anus. Toilet training not done correctly can result in anal expulsive personalities or anal retentive personalities |

Phallic Stage
|
3-6 years. Erogenous zone is the genitals. Sexual curiosity is awakened. Children fall in love with the parent of the opposite sex and dislike the parent of the same sex. |

Latency Stage
|
6 years-puberty. Hidden sexual feelings. Grow and develop intellectually, physically, and socially. Boys only play with boys and girls only play with girls |

Genital Stage
|
Puberty and adulthood. Sexual Reawakening. Focus of sexuality becomes other teenagers instead of the parents. |
