Oppositional Defiant Disorder Criteria
A pattern of negativistic, hostile, and defiant behaviour with onset prior to 8 years old, lasting at least 6 months with four of:
- Often loses temper
- Often argues with adults
- Often actively defies or refused to comply with adults' requests or tules
- Often deliberately annoys people
- Often blames others for his or her mistakes or misbehaviour
- Is often touchy or easily annoyed by others
- Is often angry and resentful
- Is often spiteful or vindictive

Behaviour causes significant impairment in functioning

Behaviours do not occur exclusively during the course of a psychotic or mood disorder.

Criteria is not met for conduct disorder or, if over 18, Antisocial Personality Disorder
Oppositional Defiant Disorder concerns
- poor school performance
- few friends
- strained parent/child relationships
- May progress to conduct disorder
Treatment of oppositional defiant disorder
- psycho-education of the parents
- establishment of a boundary between parents and their children
- parent management training
- individual/family psychotherapy
- school or daycare interventions
