Describe psychodynamic, behavioral, humanistic, bio psychological, gestalt, sociocultural and cognitive

Psychodynamic: focuses on internal drives and instincts.



Behavioral: the study of overt behavior. If you can't observe it, it doesn't matter.



Humanistic: stresses the uniqueness of all individuals. Free will!



Bio Psychological: how bodily events interact with the environment to produce behavior.



Gestalt: the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.



Social cultural: focuses on how cultural norms and values shape behavior.



Cognitive: focuses on reasoning, remembering, understanding and problem solving.

Explain the goals of psychology.

Describe various types of descriptive studies.

Observational: a study in which the researcher observers and records behavior without interfering. Naturalistic or laboratory observation



Surveys: a means of collecting observations from large numbers.



Test: standardized. Can collect from large groups. Test must have reliability.
