Traffic priorities

Provided safety is not jeopardised, traffic priorities shall be applied as follows:


- An aircraft known or believed to be in a state of emergency or impaired operation has priority over all other aircraft.


- An aircraft landing, or in the final stages of approach to land, has priority overall departing aircraft.


- An aircraft landing or taking off has priority over a taxiing aircraft.

Request priorities

Where practical, and following a request from the pilot, aircraft involved in, or positioning for, the following activities shall be granted priority:


- Ambulance or mercy missions


- search and rescue


- civil defence or police emergencies


- carriage of heads of state, heads of government or equivalent dignitaries.

Flight inspections

Use of levels: the flight inspection aircraft shall normally be given priority over all other aircraft.



Use of final approach track: the flight inspection aircraft shall normally be given priority over all aircraft except those operating scheduled services. However when established on final approach it shall be given priority over all other aircraft.

Arriving/Departing

Landing aircraft will have priority over aircraft on the ground.
