What is population? |
Population is the number of a certain type of species found in a certain area. |
What does it mean if a population goes through a lag phase? |
This means that there is a slow rate of growth and there is not a huge abundance of resources. |
What does it mean when the graph goes through a log phase? |
This is when the resources in the ecosystem increase, so the species' population increases. |
What is carrying capacity? |
Carrying capacity is the population of a species that an ecosystem can withstand while still being healthy. |
What does it mean when the graph is stationary? |
This happens at the very end of the graph. It means that the population has reached an equilibrium in terms of resources. |
What is exponential growth and when does it usually appear? |
Exponential growth is when the population of a species increases rapidly. This happens when there is temporarily an endless amount of resources. |
What is overshoot? |
Overshoot is when the population of a species becomes greater than the carrying capacity. |
What is population curve? |
A population curve shows how population numbers change. |
