The clod and pebble

Clod=positive, young and naiive, love is unselfish


Pebble=negative, selfish love, jaded, traps people.


F- 3 stanzas, split into 2


I- personification= views about love from pebble, metaphor deacribes contrasting different personalities.

Language= metaphorsof the clouds as ships, personification:moving through nature, Allusion to homers odyessy, rhyme to half rhyme


Structure: stanzas in rhyming/half rhyming triplets reflects holy trinity, varience in line length, enjambment: slipping through her fingers.


Explores the pain of heartbreak, but also the cathariss it brings, beginning=born end=die,tiger=strong, lonely poem, "mute telephone" cant express feelings
