APERTURE

SHUTTER
This is the button that makes the 'click' sound.
Set quick shutter speed for action shots slow for night.

In traditional film cameras, quite small.
Large in digital cameras.
Lets photographer select the right composition.
COMPOSITION
Refers to things in the frame of the photo.
If subject is just in the middle, could lead to an un-interesting composition.

Used silver 'light-sensitive' plate.
Heavy, slow and expensive.
Invented by Frenchman, Louis Daguerre.
CALOTYPE
Invented by Englishman William Talbot soon after Daguerre.
Used plastic film 'negative'.
Cheaper, smaller and faster.
DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY
Invented by a University student.
Uses metallic plate that captures light in pixels.
Images can be deleted and replaced 1000's of times.
