Monotheism vs. Henotheism

Scholars are divided on whether Isaiah and Jeremiah are the first of the pure monotheistic books. That is they don't see any other gods but the God of Israel.

Henotheism

is the belief in and worship of a single God while accepting the existence or possible existence of other deities that may also be worshipped.

Examples of pure Monotheism

1. Satire towards having idols as god
2. The customs of the people are delusion. They are just wood pieces of idols.
3. There is an idea of divine accommodation within the older parts of the OT (e.g., commandment not to have any other god). To upright "I am the only God."

Plans I have Planned

1. This is the same figurative language that Jesus uses in the NT with forgiveness
2. The historical context shows that God is present in the mist of despair

New Covenant

1. The use of Virgin is used to describe Israel, but this hasn't been the case up until this point. This means complete restoration for Israel.
