Nodal Points

Nodal Points are the points on the principal axis of the optical system where light rays, without Refraction, intersect the optic axis. The planes passing through the nodal points and perpendicular to the principal axis are called the Nodal planes.

Equivalent Lens

Equivalent Focal Length

We find that two lenses, separated by a finite distance, can be replaced by a single thin lens called an equivalent lens.

The focal length of equivalent lens is called equivalent focal length.

Aplanatic Point

A spherical lens, which is free from the defects of spherical aberration and coma is called an aplanatic lens. A pair of conjugate points free from spherical aberration and coma is called aplanatic points.

Eye-piece

It is a Device used to magnify an image formed by a lens or lenses preceding it in any optical instrument.

Nodal Point

Nodal Plane

Nodal Point are points on the principal axis of the optical system where light rays, without refraction, intersect the optic axis.

In a thin Lens the Nodal points is the center of the lens.

The planes passing through the nodal point and perpendicular to the principal axis are called the Nodal planes.
