Science

Authority: Knowledge gained by listening to experts

Scientific method

An approach to inquiry that attempts to safeguard errors commonly made in casual human inquiry.

Chief features of the scientific method include:

1. Viewing all knowledge as provisional (i.e., serving for the time being) and subject to refutation.


2. Searching for evidence based on systematic and comprehensive observation.


3. Pursuing objectivity in observation.


4. Replication.
