1. Index Correction Error

2. Gravity Correction Error

3. Temperature Correction Error

*____ is that elevation at or above mean sea level, to which all pressure observations are reduced

How to read psychrometer

Step A

Moisten wick or muslin cloth wrapped around wet-bulb thermometer with distilled water.

If a wick and water container are used to keep wet-bulb covering moist, the container should be placed to the side of the thermometer and with mouth slightly lower or at the same level as the bulb

How to read psychrometerStep B (Whirling Type)

Rotate instrument to see if wet bulb reading has levelled off to its lowest reading

How to read psychrometerStep B (Assman Type)

Start ventilating fan, making sure that the wet-bulb is receiving sufficient water supply

How to read psychrometerStep B (Sling Type)

the observer should stand in a shaded area, facing the wind before whirling the psychrometer. The whirling should be stopped smoothly and the reading taken rapidly.

How to read psychrometerStep C

After the lowest wet-bulb reading has been attained, read dry bulb thermometer. Record both readings.

Procedures sling psychrometer

a. Clip the elbow (of the arm holding the psychrometer) firmly to the side of the bodyb. Whirl gently at a rate 2 - 4 rev/s to attain the desired ventilation to surface wind ranging from 2.5 to 10 mps.
