Why did towns and cities grow so rapidly? |
The invention of machines meant there was more work for people in the towns and cities. |

Overcrowding , several families sharing one house. Poor quality of housing - damp rooms and little ventilation. Poor working conditions - damp , little ventilation. Long working hours and accidents common in factories. Water contaminated with sewage. Disease spread easily due to this . |
