frequency

the number of times a number occurs within a data set

frequency distribution

a table that presents the frequency for each catagory

relative frequency

the proportion of observations in a category is the relative frequency of the category. You find the relative frequency by dividing the frequency of a category by the sum of all frequencies.

relative frequency distribution

a table that presents the relative frequency for each category.

first, find the sum of all frequencies

then divide each frequency by that sum

make a new table with the relative frequencies

Bar graph

graphical representation of a frequency distribution or a relative frequency. the height of each bar represents the data

Pie chart

alternative to bar to show relative frequency distribution. change the relative frequencies to percents, then distribute the chart pieces based on these percents. to create the chart, multiply the relative distribution value by 360 degrees. The product will be the degree of the circle the data should take up on the pie chart
