IHD –ISCHEMIC

HEART DISEASE

Inadequatesupply of blood to the myocardium.

Eg.Obstruction – clots

CHF – CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE
Occurs when the heart is unable to pump sufficiently to maintain blood flow to meet the body's needs.
Debridement
Removal of dead, damaged, or infected tissue toimprove the healing potential of the remaining healthy tissue.
Epithelialising
The process of covering of a denuded epithelialsurface (in the absence of epithelialising tissue the wound is not consideredhealed).
Erythema
Superficial reddening of the skin, usually inpatches, caused by injury or irritation causing dilation of the bloodcapillaries.
Eschar
Dead matter that is cast off from the surface ofthe skin. The tissue is hard, black or brown, and leathery in texture.
Excoriated
As a result of damage or removal of part of theskin. Raw irritated lesion.
Haemoserous

(serosanguinous)

Exudate – drainage of a thin, watery, pink coloured fluid composed of blood and serum.
Purulent
Wbc, dead and alive bacteria in the wound.
Granulating
Granulation tissue isnew connective tissue and microscopic blood vessels that form on the surfacesof a wound during the healing process.
Haematoma
Localised collection of blood underneaththe tissues. It appears as a swelling or mass that often takes on a bluishdiscolouration.
Haemoserous
Haemoserous (serosanguinous) exudate –drainage of a thin, watery, pink coloured fluid composed of blood and serum.
Hypergranulation
(or overgranulation) is an excess of granulationtissue beyond the amount required to replace the tissue deficit incurred as aresult of skin injury or wounding
Impetigo
Superficial bacterial infection of the skin which usuallyresponds to treatment with antibiotics.
Maceration
Maceration is the softening and breaking down ofskin after prolonged exposure to moisture.

Adverse reaction for insulin

Itching skin, rash over the entire body, wheezing, trouble breathing, fast heart rate,sweating. Hypoglycemia.

What medications can be given through IM

Codeine.

Morphine.
