1

Gas particles are in constant random motion. They travel in straight lines until they collide with other gas particles or the walls of their container

Motion

2

Individual gas particles are considered point masses. Point masses have no volume (take up no space). Gas particles are considered to be extremely far apart and most of the container is thought of as empty.

Mass

3

Gas particles do not exert attractive or repulsive forces on one another

Attraction

4

The gas particles interact with one another and with the walls of it's container only through elastic collisions. In elastic collisions kinetic energy is conserved. Particles can exchange kinetic energy with one another but the total kinetic energy remains constant

Elastic collisions

5

The average kinetic energy if gas particles is related directly to temperature. The greater the average motion of the particles, the greater the temperature and the average kinetic energy.
