What are the treatment options for meniscus tears?
If tear occurs on peripheral meniscus it is vascular and can heal on its own.
If tear occurs on the inside of the meniscus, a partial menisectomy is recommended. Sometimes complete menisectomies are used but it leads to osteoarthritis of the knee.
Why are medial meniscus tears more common than lateral meniscus tears?
They commonly occur when the foot is planted during axial rotation. The medial meniscus attaches to capsule of the joint rather than the MCL
