Hand hygiene should take place before & after every patient contact.


After leaving a care home on a domiciliary visit.


Use soap and water or hand wash 70% alcohol.


Use paper towels.


Hands physically dirty must use soap and water.


Over than hand hygiene state other steps that can be taken to prevent infection.


No nail varnish, keep nails short, no watches (MRSA), no jewellery, disinfect equipment and work surfaces, remove scarf/ tie( MRSA), wear gloves( MSRA), if cut use coloured plaster, mask for MRSA patients.
