What is opsonization? |
The process of an antibody "tagging" (binding) to a pathogen. The pathogen binds to the Fab region of the antibody, where the phagocyte will bind to the Fc region on the antibody where it is signalled to engulf the pathogen. |

How do antibodies activate complement? |
By having an antigen portion of a pathogen bound to its Fab region, the Fc region is open to bind to C1, which activates a cascade of proteins known as complements. |
