absolute control by the state or a governing branch of a highlycentralized institution.

Guerrilla

A member of an irregular, usually indigenous military or paramilitary force operating in small bands in occupied territory to harass andundermine the enemy, as by surprise raids.

War

a conflict carried on by force of arms, as between nations or betweenparties within a nation; warfare, as by land, sea, or air.

Holocaust

Great destruction resulting in the extensive loss of life, especially by fire.

Genocide

The systematic and widespread extermination or attempted extermination of a national, racial, religious, or ethnic group.

Dirty War

a war conducted by the military or secret police of a regime againstrevolutionary and terrorist insurgents and marked by the regime's useof kidnapping, torture, and murder, with members of the civilianpopulation often the victims.

Revolution

Society

Civil Society

the part of society that consists of organizations and institutions thathelp and look after people, their health, and their rights. It does not include the government.
