How did Hippocrates make an important contribution to the development of medicine?

Hippocrates wrote down all ideas in a series of books (The Hippocratic Collection).

Claudius Galen, Roman doctor born in Greece 129 AD, studied at Alexandria, appointed doctor to the royal family


Public dissections (scientific proof, illegal to dissect human body so used pigs/monkeys - many theory's wrong)


Made Hippocrates books more well-known - so comprehensive people thought development in medical understanding was unneeded


Opposites treatment e.g. if cold patient given a chili
