Automobile

Is a wheeled self powered motor vechile used for tranportation. The modern car was birthed in 1886, although not wildly available. Ford motor company was first company to sell cards to the pass public in 1908. Cards too over animal-drawn carriages very fast in America, but the popularity and turnover took much longer in Europe.

A show characture whose name became the name of racial segregation. It was the name of the racial segregation laws enacted after the reconstruction period.

Was a trail in 1925, John Scopes was a Tennessee Teacher accused of violating state law prohibiting teaching of the theory of evolution, it became a nationally celebrated confrontation between religious fundamentalism and civil liberties. eM

Metacom

Was a native american cheif whose tribe, the Wampanoags waged the most devistating war against the English in early American History. 12 Puritian towns were attacked and Metacom's son and was was sold into slavery.

Richard Nixon

Was 37th president. Severed from 1969-1974. He is the only president to resign from office. He resigned Aug 9, 1974 mostly due to his involvement with the Watergate scandal. Before his presidency, he was a senator for California. Died April 22, 1994 due to a stroke.

Congregationalist

Those who accept the bible as sufficient and word for word. Started in 1620 from Puritan immigrants. Prostentant denomination believed each congregation should be self-governing. J

Jesse Owens

1913-1980


Was an American track and field athlete. Won 4 gold medals at the olypmics in Berlin, Germany. Hitler was rumored to be annoyed by him. It is disputed if Hitler shook his hand or not, but the general consensus is that he did not. Jesse felt snubbed when the current president Roosevelt never acknoweldged his wins.
