Syllabus revisions

Students are expected to review and remember the policies that accompany this course. Several exam questions throughout the semester will pertain to course policies. The course syllabus is subject to change at the discretion of the course instructor. Changes will be announced online through canvas.

Students with disabilities

Any student requesting academic accommodations based on a disability is required to register with the Weber state University services for students with disabilities each semester. A letter of verification for approved accommodations can be obtained from The student services department. The student services department is located on the lower level of the student services centre in Room 181.

Class correspondence

Announcement, assignments, handouts, and other information will be posted online on canvas. The student is responsible for making certain that his email and online account is working properly. When sending emails, always include a subject in the subject line. Any messages sent without a subject line will be deleted without being read.The instructor will respond to email questions within 48 hours.However, any emails received during weekends or holidays may be treated as if received on the 1st weekday that the University reopens for services.

Attendance and participation

Students are expected to meet deadlines or to notify the instructor ahead of time if a deadline cannot be met. Excused absences or postponement of specific class deadlines are generally provided only for absence stemming from participation in University activities or for medical reasons. Students requesting an excused absence or postponement must present a written request and supporting documentation.

Student conduct

Students enrol in this class will it here to the Department of Health promotion and human performance, hphp. You are expected to complete all work for this course individually. Any student who is found to be guilty of academic misconduct may automatically earn an E in the course. In general, academic misconduct includes the use of any other persons or groups ideas or work. Turn it in software will be used intermittently in this class to check students work for potential plagiarism.

Grading

Assignment submissions will be graded within one week of the assignment due dates and the scores posted online using canvas. Early assignment submittal does not necessarily equate to a quicker assignment score. If there is a dispute due to a difference in the perception on a correct answer for an exam question the student can make a written argument via email to the instructor. The request for Regrading Must be made within 7 days of the score posting. As a result of the regrading, the student's grade can increase, decrease, or stay the same, depending on the quality of the written argument.The grade you earn in receiving this course will be based on a percentage of total points. Student scores will not be rounded up.

Late assignments

You must adhere to the dates provided on the syllabus. Late assignments will be penalised by 10% of the maximum assignment grade for every day, including weekends, they are late. Please planned to submit assignments at least one day before the cut off date so that in any case of technical difficulties you have time to resolve the problem. No extensions will be given for technical difficulties experienced by students attempting to complete assignments at the last moment, or on the access cut off date.If students wish to use their personal computers to complete requirements, it is the student's responsibility to maintain working technology.

Exams

Exams are available for students to complete one week prior to the deadline. No makeup exams are permitted. Plan to complete the class exams at least one day before the cut off date. No extensions will be given for technical difficulties experienced by students attempting to complete exams at the last moment, or on the access cut off date. Students with documented scheduling conflicts must make alternative testing arrangements before scheduled exam dates. There are no rescheduling of exam dates.

Concussions and head injuries

Students who sustained a concussion or a traumatic head injury should report the incident to each of their course instructors. The student may be excused from certain academic activities and actively participating in physical activities for certain classes until they are evaluated in clear by a qualified health care provider to resume class activities.

Incomplete

A final grade of incomplete maybe given by an instructor only when the student, having satisfactorily completed approximately 80% of the required work, is unable to complete the remaining classwork for a legitimate reason, illness, or accident. Incomplete are highly discouraged and will be considered only in the most extreme and tragic circumstances, illness or injury, occurring after the 12th week of the semester. Arrangements for the incomplete and its removal must be initiated by the student and agreed to by the instructor by the 14th week of the semester.In the event the instructor approves an incomplete, a written contract will be completed which details what is required for course completion.

Starfish

The starfish program will monitor and inform students of their academic progress. Throughout the term, you may receive emails from starfish regarding Grades or academic performance. If you receive one of these alerts, keep in mind they are meant to help you achieve success and do not affect your grade or carry any punitive action. Students may use the raise your hand feature in sar fish To signal instructors and academic advisers that they need help.

Extra Credit

2 extra credit opportunities are planned for this course, for 5 points extra credit, students may complete a brief survey regarding their textbook preferences, hard copy versus electronic, and 5 points extra credit for students who complete the end of semester course evaluation. Besides the aforementioned extra credit opportunities no other extra credit opportunities are planned for this course. If in the unlikely event that additional extra credit is offered, it will be announced online and available for every student to complete for a minimal amount Of course points less than 5% of total points.
