What is refraction?
The bending of light (changes direction) when it travels from one material to another
What is the angle of refraction?
The angle between the refracted ray and the normal line
When the speed of light in the second medium is less than the speed of light in the first medium, what way does the light bend?
It bends TOWARDS the normal line
When the speed of light in the second medium is more than the speed of light in the first medium, what way does the light bend?
It BENDS away from the normal line.
When some of the light is being reflected, and some of it is being refracted this is called
partial reflection
The ratio of the speed of light in a vacuum to the speed of light in a media is called the
index of refraction
Index of refraction formula is:
n= c / v which is equal to the ratio of n= sin <i / sin <R.

the n is the index of refraction, c is the speed of light in a vacuum ( 3.00) , and v is the speed of light in a given medium
