Glaciation

The process/condition or result in being covered in glaciers or ice sheets.

Escarpment

Long steep slope. One at the edge of plateau or seperationg areas of land at different heights.

Riff Valley

Large elongated deppressional with steep walls formed by the downward displacement of the earths surface.

Swamp

An area of low lying uncultivated ground where water collects.

Marsh

Area of low lying land that is flooded in wet seasons, however it remains water logged at all times.

Delta

Triangular tract of sediment deposited at a river mouth, typically diverges into several outlets.

Tundra

Tundra is a type of biome, small trees (ifany), low temperature. Has short growing seasons for plants.

Faulting

Displacement of once connecting rock along a fault plane. Can occur when both tensional and compression forces.

Muskeg

North American swamp or bog consisting of water and partly dead vegitation.

Boreal

Canadas largest vegitation zone (65%) long cold winters, short cool summers.

Maritime Climate

Oceanic Climate, typical of west coast in higher, middle, altitudes of continents. Cool summers, cool winters. Narrow temp. range.

Temperate

Are coniferous or broadleaf forests that occur in the temperate zone and receive heavy rainfall.

Plateau

Land area having relitively level surface considerably raised above adjoining land on at least one side often cut by deep canyons

Brackish

Water or briny water has more salinity than fresh water but not as muchas sea water.

Sink

Topographic depression formednwhen limestone bedrock is dissloved by ground water.

Rain-Shadow

Dry regions of land on the side of a mountain range that is preotected from winds.

Tectonic Plates

Relating to the structures of the earths crust and large scale events that take place.

Fold Mountains

Formed by the earth folding into different layers. Himalayas or the Rockies are both examples.
