  • Back
Prokaryotic
no membrane band structures inside
Eukaryotic
ha membrane band structures inside
Outer membrane
on the cell membrane, which dictates what goes in or out of the cell
Cytoplasm
fills the cell (jello)
Organelles
structures in the cell which move around the cell & perform functions that are necessary for human life. Such are the nucleus, vacules and mitochondria.
Nucleus
contains the cells hereditary info that controls the cells growth & reproduction, it cantains chromosomes.
Chromosomes
made up of DNA which determines how we lookd & act, our characteristics.
Vacules
the storage containers that store food at waste.
Mitochomdria
produces enerygy from the cell through the process of respiration, which is a series of chemical reactions that put food & oxygen together to create energy & CO2 (a waste bi-product)
Plant Cells
have an additional characteristic, they have a cell wall. They have organelles called Chloroplasts.
Cell Wall
gives the shell a firmer shape & support, it is made up of cellulose that we cant digest but provides us w/ good health.
Chloroplast
contain chlorophyll which uses the rocess if photosynthesis to make foof for the plant cell.Green part of the plant.
Photosyntesis
chloroplast interacts w/ light energy, it combines CO2 & H2O to make food. W/ light, the green prats of the plant (chloroplast) producess sugar called glucose & O2 from CO2&H2O.
DNA
(DI-OXY-RIBO-NU-KLE-IC- ACID) determines how one looks & functions. it is the blueprint for life, it consist of two strands that form a double helix. spirals around like a twist ladder & has a sugar component,a phsosphate component & 4different bases. Adenine & thymine are always based together, cytosine and guanine too, they form the steps of the ladder.the outside of the DNA is the phosphate then the sugar then the bases.
DNA division
the chromosomes are duplicated before cell divisiontakes place. the DNA within it unzips & seperates. New bases form & link up in the proper way, formining an exact double helix.
