What do you know about this school?

The schools is also a harmonious environment, which is conducive for working and learning. Teachers are celebrated- evidenced in one of the school's facebooks post of 2019, where the school held an event which celebrated the talent and friendship in the school. Again female teachers are celebrated in events like mother's day. Teachers are indeed a united front, I saw them dance to the jerusalem chalenged, the worked amd nailed the dance. So I believe even in the things the same spirit of support rules.

Lastly, the teachers are sincerely commited to the needs of learners. I've read some of the most heart toughing comends from parents, reviews and I've also seen the matric results.

Why do you want to work in this school?

This school has an excelent reputation for the quality of its teaching and the excelent behavior of its learners.

The teachers are supportive of each other and are commited to the needs of the learners- I concluded this when I saw the matric pass rate the school.

I would love to become part of such a commited team and add my own skills and expiriences to further strengthen the high quality expirience that this school offers to its learners

What are essential traits of an effective teacher?

I believe great teachers are effective when the assume the following roles-

1. They are good at managing the classroom- the know and understand that classrom management is about achieving order so learning can occur. Classroom management is the ability to manage the behaviour of learners effectively, and to create a classroom structure which both supports learners and helps them to succeed in an environment with high expectations and individual attention.

What gives you the greatest pleasure in teaching?/ what do you love about teaching?

What I enjoy about teaching firstly , is of those occuring moments in the classroom called teachable moments. This is where learners ask questions, demonstrate their understand or express new information. I remember in one of the days while I was student teaching at Providence Academy. I gave the task learners of findinf the missing salaries and wages amount in the income statement, and to my surprise the lesson turned to be a teachable moment for me as one of the learners used a maths formula to find the value of salaries. I did maths but I never thought of using its formulas in Accounting, I had been using what I had learnt from my teachers.

Another moment in teaching which gives me the greatest pleasure is when a finally learners. I call this the aha moment, where the learner finally gets it. There is nothing like that moment. There is joy in discovering that a learner now understands what they previously didn't.

What kind of principal would you like to work for?

From my expirience, observatipns and conversations with other teachers, I believe that a working relationship with the school's principal should be based on trust and communication. I would assist in that by maling sure I keep the principal information wise. I cannpt just take him or her by surprise. I've learned that keeping them informed is a good idea. Also if I have a difficult problem in my classrom, I should let the principal know, because of their expirience and the fact that they are well informed they will help me go throught it. That information sharing is important in building trust and communication between me and the principal.

What do you think is wrong with the education today?

Education in SA is considered poor as compared to many other countries, and is due to many factors like,

1. Language is a huge barrer- learners in public schools ar(myself incl) learn in their home language whilst exams wuestions are written and should be answered in english.

2. Resources are insufficient at school. Most township and rural school are not conducive for learners to learn and teacher to teach in. Children in impoverished areas cannot access resources for online learning during terrible are era. The gov needs to allocate sufficient resources.

3. Classes were overgrounded before covid 19 pandemic. Classes consisted of 50 or more learners. With those many learners in a class it was close to impossible for learning to occur unless the lasted technologies are present 2 assint teachers.

4. There isn't proper discipline in some schools, most learners have no respect for adults let one teachers. Detention needs to be supervised by HODs and dscipline reports needs to be handed to learners as part of their testimonials to their future employers when they leave school attesting to their character.

What os your greatest strength?

I have good listening skills. I believe this is one of the most crucial skills nowadays to help one understand the problems and emotions faced by learners. I believe that I have benefited alot from this skill as I easily connect with learners on a very personal level which assists me to gain the trust.

2. I enjoy leaning and passionate about it.I spend my free time reading books as I enjoy learning new things.

I hope to bring my passion for learning to this school.

What is your philosophy of education?

I belive that teachers are facilitators rather than monitors of the learning process. When we sincerely invite the leaners to select and direct their own learning expiriences, they can develop a measure of independence and descipline which will carry them beyond the classroom.

Describe your teaching style?

Because learning according to research is not simply tge accumulation of knowledge, but how we make sense of it. I use learner centered approach. For example facilitated discussions, inquiry based, flipped classroom, and amny more. I know that knowledge is created and exists in the minds of leaners, and for them to learn, I must help them relate the new content to the knowledge they already have. I also need to provide them with opportunities to process and apply that knowledge in meaningful ways

Describe two things you would want to improve about yourself? What are your weakness?

My time management and computer skills.I am one of those teachers who always tries to do too much, and I often find that there is just insufficient yime to get everything done.Secondly, my computer skills. Although I can effectively intergraye technology into the classroom, the stream is ever evolving so I need to keep myself updated with the latest trends as it's very important in the classroom.

What book are you currently reading?

I believe that teachers should be readers themselves, which is a good model for kids. I am currently reading a book by JIA JIANG, tittled "rejection proof". This book is Jia's entertaining and inspiring account of conquering his fear of rejection, offering a completely new perspwcrive on how to turn a no into a yes. He teaches and shares the secrets of successful asking, how to pick targets, how to tell when an initial no can be converted into something positive.

Compared with other student teachers, how would you rate yourself?

One a scale of one to 10( as used on the evaluation form filled by my mentor teacher) I would say 8/10. I consistently achieved an average of 80% or 8 out of 10 on all five areas of student teaching competence. My mentor teacher consistently rated my high on all areas of my student teaching. While I know that student teaching is a learning process, I received marks and comments that were the best. I like to set high standards for myself and fory learners as well.

How do you define success

My definition of success is learner centered. My aim is for ever learner of mine to perform at their maximum level. My challenge is in identifying learner strength and weaknesses and providing individualized curriculum that will ensure maximum growth and development- not just in their academics but in their lives as well.

What aspects of your teaching style would you like to change.

Like most teachers, I tend to ask low level questions. Throughout my years pf teaching and tutoring, I have learned that leaners become more interested and engaged in a topic when asked high level questions. Questions that require learners to analyse, synthesize and evaluate information provide additional problem solving and critical thinking opportunities for learners. I am working hard to integrate those questions in my classroom.

Do you belive that you are qualified dor this position?

Absolutely! I had terrific expiriences in all my university method modules. I was exposed to several different philosophies of teaching from very exciting and participating lecturers. All this contributed in my growth and success as a teacherand I with to continue growing here at your school.

I was very fortunate to have several inspirational teachers during my school days, who challlenged and motivated me to be a dynamic educator. These were teachers like Ms Nkumane who was student oriented, who really cared about her students and exibited empathy. She also motivated leaners to do well not only in their academis but in their lives as well, and consisstently set a positive example. Secondly Mr Manqa who modeled passion and excitement for us leaners and his subject, and showed that leaning can be a lifelong persuit. I have been motivated in ways I never thought were possible, and I would like to inspirie and help others 2 do the same.

What are the greatest assets you will bring to the teaching prifession?

From a very young age, I've always considered myself to be a passionate learner. Whether it was leaning how to write a bicycle to learning how to records transactions in the journals, I've lways been excited about learning. I believe that I can bring that excitement for learning into my classroom. I believe if the learners see my passion for learning, they will also be as excited about learning as well.
