Historic:Everything is historical, you can pinpoint historic events in the book of revelation (Always shifting/subjective, self-centered/Western focused) Preterist: Everything in the book has happened in the past (except for the final end)(Application to today/Applicable to 1st century but not today), OT prophetic work (Book of Daniel-much has past),World hasn't ended yet Futurist: Nothing in chapter 4-22 has happened but it will be in the future (Subjective interpretation, difficult for application (eventually the future will have to come) Idealist: Principles that book can teach us (Theological-what can we learn about who God is)(Demotes scripture and prophesy in general, Hyper spiritualizes everything), OT would ignore all the other genre book) |
