Manifest Destiny
Manifest Destiny is the belief that Americans had the God given right to settle and develop the whole continent of America.
Homesteaders settling on the Plains.
Materials to build housing were not easily available
They used small blocks of earth called SODS which were dug from the ground. They were named sod busters.
They were strong and stood up to tough weather.
It took about 1 acre to dig enough sods to make a house
Roles of women homesteaders
They were very important, they were even given the vote
They made cleaning tools from naturaul resourses on the plains e.g urine, manure, roasted mice.
Women brought society together, mixed families and celebrating events lik harvest and childbirth.
Women were teachers and demanded education and good behaviour.

On foot was used but was hard work
Railroads were used which were easiest and fastest
