Cornea

Clear surface in front of the eye that refracts light into the pupil.

Retina

Layer of specialized light sensitive cells at the back of the eye that transfer light energy to nerve impulses.

Pupil

Opening of the iris which appears as a black dot, adjusts to let in more/less light.

Rods

Specialized cells in the retina that allow us to see in dim light and have peripheral (side) vision.

Iris

The colored ring of muscle that opens/closes the pupil.

Cones

Specialized cells in the retina that allow color vision and seeing in bright light.

Lens

Clear,flexible structure that focuses light waves to the back of the eye (retina).

Optic Nerve

Transmits nerve impulses to the brain to be interpreted as sight.

Separates outer ear from middle ear. Sends vibrations to the 3 tiny bones.

Auditory Nerve

Sends nerve impulses to brain to be interpreted as sounds.
