WASTE HEAT BOILER

1)Stores feed water in lower half of drum before being pumped to generating bank via the recirculation pump.


2)In the upper half-uses "Cyclone" centrifugal force to separate water droplets from the steam via the cyclone separator element.

WHB RECIRCULATION PUMP

1) Pumps feed water from the steam separator into the boiler tubes of the generating bank.


2) Rated at 144 GPM at 30 psi.


3)Automatically starts when GTG reaches 12,780 RPM if control switch on WHBCP is in auto position.

WHBCP (WASTE HEAT BOILER CONTROL PANEL)

1)Contains gauges and fault indicators for WHB.


2)emergency stop buttons and control switches for the feed water pump, recir pump, and steam stop valve.


3)Mounted below the panel is the remote water level indicator(RWLI) for the steam separator.

WHB STEAM DUMP VALVE

1)Directs excess steam to the control condenser to maintain normal operating pressure with the steam separator.

WHB STEAM STOP VALVE

1)Directs steam to the main steam header running through out the ship.

WHB CONTROL CONDENSER

1)Condenses excess steam from the boiler back to liquid format (condensate), then delivers it back to the feedtank.

DEAERATING FEED TANK

1)Super heats the feed water to 250 degrees to remove gases (such as oxygen) prior to entering the boiler.

LUBE OIL STORAGE AND SETTLING TANKS

1) 3 storage tanks- 750 gal each


2) 2 settling tanks- 1020 gal each


3) holds 2190 lube oil.


4) can be aligned for strikedown to lube oil purifier to be transferred to either MRG or CRP sump.

HP/LP AIR CROSS CONNECT

1) Reduces HP air pressure down to 100 psi to provide back up to the LP air system.

LOSCA'S (LUBE OIL STORAGE AND CONDITIONING ASSEMBLY.

1) Stores and conditions 23699 synethic lube oil for the GTM'S.


2) Uses 2190 lube oil to cool down 23699.

GTG GRAVITY FUEL HEAD TANK

1) 500 gal fuel tank


2) supplies fuel to the GTG

CIT TANK (CHEMICAL INJECTION TANK)

1) Provides continuous chemical injection of feed water to the boiler when aligned.

MRG LUBE OIL COOLER

1) Cools the MRG LUBE oil(2190).


2) Shell and u-tube type cooler than uses seawater as a cooling medium.


3) Temple regulating valve maintains the MRG L/OIL header temp at 110 +/-5 degrees.

FREE STANDING ELECTRONIC ENCLOSURE

1) Contains the electronics to control the GTM'S.


2) receives signal from ship throttle, relays it to the engines.

PROPULSION LOCAL CONTROL CONSOLE (PLCC)

Console that houses local controls for GTM'S, fuel oil, lube oil, bleed/ start air and the engine order Telegraph.

FUEL OIL SERVICE PUMPS

1) Two vertical screw type pumps


2) 2 modes: slow and fast.

FUEL OIL SERVICE TANKS

20,000 gal tank each, holds F-76 fuel oil for gtm and GTG.

FIREPUMP

1) Rated at 1100 GPM at 150 psi.

OILY WASTE TRANSFER PUMP

1) used to pump out oily waste tank/bilge.


2) Rated at 50 GPM at 60 psi

FUEL OIL COALESCER TOWERS

1) Separates water from the fuel oil using a hydrophobic element.


2) also removes dirt/sediment using 10 disposable filters.

FUEL OIL PRE-FILTER

1)Remove dirt/sediment from fuel oil using 8 disposable filters.


2)FUEL oil passes through here before going through the COALESCER towers.

CRP ELECTRIC PUMP

1) Pumps lube oil from the CRP Sump to the hopm


HOPM (HYDRAULIC OIL POWER MODULE)

1) Controls CRP system volumes and pressures


2) sends oil to OD box and the HUB by dividing up the CRP oil into 2 flow paths: Power oil(propeller and hub) and Control oil( OD box).

DFT BOOSTER PUMP

1)Sends feed water from the feedtank to the DFT tank on the boiler phat.

LUBE OIL PURIFIER

1)Self cleaning type purifier.


2)Purifies 2190 LUBE oil from either MRG SUMP, CRP SUMP OR STORAGE/SETTLING TANK.

LUBE OIL SERVICE PUMPS
