Epithelial Tissue
Form the working surface of skin and all body cavity, including glands, ducts and vessels. They protect, secrete and absorb.
Epithelial cells are connected by one or more junctions.
Simple Epithilia
In simple epithelial the surface tissue functions in filtration, diffusion, secretion and absorption.

Simple epithelia lines air cells, blood and lymphatic vessels, glands, body cavity membrane and viscera.
Simple Squamous Epithelium
Are thin, plate like cells. They function in diffusion and line the heart, all blood and lymphatic vessels, air cells, body cavities, and glomeruli in the urinary tract.
Simple Cuboidal Epithelia
Ate generally secretory cells and make up glands throughout the body. Found in tubules, kidneys and terminal bronchioles of the lungs.
Simple Columnal Epithelium
Line the gastrointestinal tract and concerned with secretion and absolution. Their free (apical) surface may be covered by finger like projections called (microvilli) increasing the surface area for secretion/absorption.
Pseudostratified Epithelium
Look stratified but are not. Bunched together in a single layer attache to the the basement membrane. Found in the respiratory tract.
