How much gas can we carry?
1100 - Single Point Refueling
1200 - Over the Wing Refueling
How much gas does each tank hold?
527 lbs. - Wing tanks
47 lbs. - Center tank
What action do you have to do if you use over the wing refueling?
Weight and balance.
How many probes are there?
7 - 3 in each wing and 1 in the center tank.
What ranges do the wing fuel probes sense?
Outer Probe - 445+/-50
Middle Probe - 308+/-50
Inner Probe - 20
The center tank probe divides it's fuel between the L and R indicators.
How many optical sensors are there?
2 - The amber L FUEL LO and R FUEL LO annunciators indicate fuel quantity below approx. 110 lbs. in the wing tanks.
How long will the flip/flop valve (fuel pickup) provide fuel if inverted?
15 seconds
What do you do if you are flying inverted and get a fuel px light and boost pump light?
Cease inverted maneuvering and notify Mx after landing.
What does placing the starter switch to auto/reset do to the fuel system?
Activates the electric fuel boost pump.
What happens when you put the fuel bal switch to man/reset?
Activates the L/R switch or resets the auto balance system to provide an additional 2 min. to balance the fuel load.
What happens when you turn the boost pump switch on?
Turns on the electric boost pump.
What happens when you turn the boost pump switch is in arm?
The electric boost pump will turn on if below 10 psi in motive flow line.
What happens if a fuel probe fails?
Fuel Bal light, FP FAIL on fuel gauge, Fuel qty will read normal until below the qty of next higher probe, then will read minimum fuel for that probe until fuel is below the failed probe's lowest reading.
What does placing the L/R switch to L or R do?
Deactivates motive flow to the selected tank.
Can the fuel system transfer fuel from one tank to another?
Nope.
What does L FUEL LO light mean?
Optical probe sensing below 110 lbs. in the tank.
What does the FUEL PX light mean?
Below 10 psi in the motive flow line.
Where is the motive flow line?
Between the low pressure fuel pump and the high pressure fuel pump.
When does the FUEL BAL light come on?
Greater than 30 lbs. inbalance for more than 2 min.
FP Fail.
What does the boost pump light indicate?
The boost pump is on.
What does the M FUEL BAL light mean?
The fuel balance switch is in the MAN/RESET position.
What happens if the high pressure fuel pump fails?
The engine fails, flames out, and cannot be restarted.
If both the low pressure pump and the electric boost pump fail, will the engine run?
Yes, the engine-driven high pressure fuel pump will suction feed sufficient fuel for continued operation.
But it will not allow a restart!
What fuel pressure is supplied by the engine-driven low pressure fuel pump?
40 psi
What fuel pressure is supplied by the engine-driven high pressure fuel pump?
700 psi
What is the pressure provided by the transfer jet pumps?
1 to 1.5 psi
