compression-weight of body driven against head (falls, mvc, diving)
-flexion-fwd movement of head where chin meets chest
-extension-backward movement which neck is stretched, torso arched backward
-rotation-lateral movement of head or spine beyond normal rotation
-lateral bending- body or neck bent from side
-distraction-vertabrae and spinal cord stretched and pulled apart (hangings)
-penetration
traumatic paralysis
quadriplegia or tetraplegia- complete paralysis to entire body
-hemiplegia-loss of sensation to only one side of the body (more common in head injuries and stokes)
-paraplegia- lower half of the body(spinal damaged below cervical spine)

test radial in upper

flex your arms across chest
extend arms to side of body
-spread your fingers out and dont let me squeeze them together
-hold out both arms and dont let me push them down

lower-push down and then pull up on hands
pain assess
pinch the skin or poke with broken end of a q tip
light touch assess
close eyes, lightly touch finger on one hand then another ask him which finger or toe you are touching
