LAVATORY FIRE PROCEDURE


( COLD DOOR )

1 - Wear smoke hood and gloves.


2 - Take extinguisher and test it before use.


3 - Bend down to minimise the threat of fire and smoke.


4 - Open the door slowly, using it as protection.


5 - Enter in the toilet with caution, stay low, below smoke level ( visibility)


6 - Locate the fire source, carefully remove panels of necessary.


7 - Discharge extinguisher onto fire.


8 - Check the area.


9 - Cool down.


10 - Monitor

LAVATORY FIRE PROCEDURE


( HOT DOOR )

1 - Protect yourself using PPE and gloves + extinguisher.


2 - Door must be closed, use blankets or heavy clothes under the door to avoid smoke coming out into the cabin.


3 - With crash axe make a small hole upper part of the door.


4 - Discharge extinguisher completely and wait a couple of minutes for action.


5 - Use door as protection and access to the toilet.


6 - Cool down.


7 - Monitor

Using the back side of your hand to feel the door to decide if you go to “ cold “of “hot “ procedures.

OVEN FIRE PROCEDURE

1 - Turn off the oven and electrically isolate the oven by pulling the circuit breakers.


2 - Protect yourself using PPE, gloves and extinguisher.


3 - Use oven’s door as a shield and open it just enough to put the nozzle of the extinguisher.


4 - Discharge a small amount and close the door.


5 - Wait a while and open the door carefully.


6 - Once the fire is out, remove the burned content and cool down with water.


7 - Monitor

OVERHEAD BINS FIRE PROCEDURE

1- Reseat pax from the incident area.


2 - Open bin carefully using its door as protection, open just enough to insert extinguisher’s nozzle.


3 - Use crash axe to open/close.


4 - Discharge the extinguisher.


5 - Wait a couple of minutes, once the fire is out open door carefully.


6 - Use blanket or curtain to protect seats and floor from the falling burned content.


7 - Check area.


8 - Remove content from the overhead bin and cool down with water.


9 - Monitor

Which “ warnings “ we can observe in the cabin when smoke detect is activated ?

1 - Triple low chime in the cabin every 30 seconds.


2 - Red smoke LAV indicator in the FAP.


3 - Amber light flashes in the ACP ( plafond )


4 - A red indicator flash on all AIP indicating the lavatory concerned.


5 - Amber lavatory indicator light outside flashes.
