Action
Everything that happens in a story.
Character
A living thing that is in the story that has a personality and a role inside the story.
Characterization
The process of adding personality/character (appearance, thoughts, feelings) to a character with descriptive words and plot twists/action (telling us how the climax is viewed, etc.).
Conflict
The main problem in the story that develops the characters, story, and the plot line. It is usually between two groups/characters.
Dialogue
Spoken words from a character. Quotation marks are used.
Moral
An (obvious) lesson gained throughout the story.
Plot
The events that are put into order throughout the story.
Narrator
The person from which the story's perspective is told.
First-person point of view
A view using singular indicators, me, I, etc. The narrator is inside the story.
Third-person point of view
A point of view without a narrator that is involved in the story. The narrator is not inside the story.
Protagonist
The main hero/character in the story, who often battles the antagonist/villain of the story.
Setting
Where and when the story takes place.
Theme
The (less obvious) message of the story.
Symbol
Something in a story that has a double meaning.
Symbolism
The technique of using symbols to influence characters & readers, or to familiarize them with aspects or morals of the story.
