What is Plot? |
Plot is a series of related events that make up a story |

Motivation |
The driving force that pushes the protagonist to achieve their goal |

Conflict |
The big/major issue |

The minor issues the protagonist has to overcome |

Suspense |
The build up of anxiety. Is the character going to succeed/fail? |

Climax |
Highest point of intensity. Face off between protagonist and the antagonist. |

Protagonist |
The main character who the reader identifies with and who has a goal to achieve |

Antagonist |
The character or force that opposes the protagonist |

A character that does go through a change |

Setting |
• Time & Place the story takes place • When reading anything, ask yourself "what is the significance of the setting" • Consider how the setting connects to other elements of the story and how it affects the reader and story |

Theme |
• The underlying message the author was trying to convey • Generalization about life • Universal so everyone can relate to the story in some way • When writing a theme, you write a thematic statement |

What are the 4 point of views? |
• First person • Objective • Limited Omniscient • Omniscient |

First person |
The story is told by the protagonist or a character that is closlely related or character that uses "I, we, me". The reader sees the story through the characters eyes and experiences only knowing what he/she is thinking |

Objective |
The author tells the character in third person. There is no comment on the character or their thoughts. The reader is in the position of a spectator and has to interpret the events on their own |

Limited Omniscient |
The story us told by a third person narrator but from a viewpoint of a character in the story. The reader has access to thkughts and feelings of only one character in the story. |

Omniscient |
Means "all knowing". This point of view can move from character to character, event to event, having access to knowing all thoughts and feeling of any character whenever they choose |
