6 Cards in this Set

  • Front
  • Back
What is Step #1?
Determine the Rate

- Calculation Techniques
- Use 6-sec count for irregular heart beats
What is Step #2?
Evaluate the rhythm (Measure between RR intervals)

- Regular - normal
- Irregular regular - ECG doesn't look normal, but regular pattern
- Irregular - sporadic (fibrillation)
What is Step #3?
Is there a P wave for every QRS?

- No P wave means no atrial blood flow (bad)
- Needs to come before QRS complex
- AV conduction ratio - number of P waves to QRS complex (1:1 normal)
What is Step #4?
Measure the PR Interval

- Time from SA to Bundle of His (conduction blocks cause problem here)
- Onset at end of P wave, ends at beginning of QRS segment
- Normal - 0.12 - 0.20 sec
What is Step #5?
Examine QRS complex
What is Step #6?
Interpret the rhythm

- Possible problems listed above
