Define Static IP Address |
A static IP is one that is hand configured by a user or a network administrator. The person creating it must configure the IP address. the gateway and the network mask plus any special requirements for the network |

Describe when a static IP is good and when it is bad. |
A static ip is good for servers and printers that stay in one place all the time. This could be expanded to any desktop that stays in one place and people need to reach it from another computer. It is bad for devices on the move, especially laptops or handhelds. WHen people move to other networks, their IP setting change by necessity. |

What is DHCP |
Dynamic Host Configuration protocol. It is the way client computers receive and IP address all all the information needed to communicate on a Netwrok. |

What is a DHCP reservation |
This is when a DHCP server permently binds an IP address to a MAC address. This gives a user the ability to configure their system to use DHCP while being guarenteed the same IP address when in the office. |

What is the scope in DHCP |
THis is the range of IP addresses that a server can allocate (hand out) to client computers. |

What is a lease in DCHP |
The time you are guarenteed to keep the same IP address after your computer is turned off or you are gone from the facility |

What does renew do in DHCP |
If your computer stays on, your reset the lease time.
