Key features:
1. Earliest computers. 2. Used thousands of vacuum tubes to operate. 3. Also use stored program instructions and data. 4. Memory of these computers used electromagnetic relays. 5. Data is fed by users using punched cards.
Disadvantages:
1. Bulky and occupies large room. 2. Vacuum tubes produce a lot of heat so air conditioning required. 3. Vacuum tubes consumes a lot of power/electricity. 4. Filaments of vacuum tubes has limited life span, so frequent hardware failures. 5. Due to less time gap of frequent hardware failures, lot of maintenance required. 6. Components of the machine are assembled by hand, so time consuming, expensive and less commercial implementation. 7. Programming was difficult at that time.
Advantages:
1. Fastest computers or calculating devices available at that time.
