D2F

(1) Slang used in which one party inquires with another party if they are interested in carnal relations, see also DTF. (2) Direct-to-fan: Artist investing in high quality recording materials and equipment, to cut down cost of getting their music distributed.

Crowdfunding

Self financing alternatives such as kickstarter that develop funding sources for artists by offering a premium, such as copies of the finalized product, from small donations or buy-ins.

Freemium

Artist give away recorded music, and allow consumers to decide how much they are willing to pay for it.

DBA

Doing Business As: A form that is filed thats intent is to alert the public about a new enterprise; often required to give public notice through a local newspaper.
