compression
a complete scan of all picture lines by the electron beam.
frame
has at least twice the picture detail of standard(NTSC) television.
HDTV
in this system the beam skips every other line during its first scan, reading only the odd-numbered lines, then the even-numbered lines.
interlaced scanning
in this system the electron beam starts with line 1, then scans line 2, then line 3, etc. until all lines are scanned, then repeats.
progressive scanning
A step in the digitization of an analog signal.
quantizing
red, green, and blue -- the basic colors of TV
RGB
the process of reading from an analog electronic signal a great many equally spaced, tiny portions for conversion into a digital code.
sampling
A signal that fluctuates exactly like the original stimulus.
