Penicillin G

Penicillin G is used to treat:



Syphillis by Treponema pallidum.



Endocarditis by viridans streptococci and enterococci.



Meningitis by Meningococci.



Pneumonia by pneumococci.



And various streptococcal infections.

Penicillin V

Penicillin V is used to treat pharyngitis infection caused by streptococcus pyogenes.

Nafcillin and oxacillin

Nafcillin and oxacillin are used to treat osteomyelitis, endocarditis, pneumonia, skin and soft tissue infections caused by staphylococcus aureus.

Amoxicillin and clavulanate

Amoxicillin and clavulanate are used to treat otitis, upper respiratory tract infections, pneumonia, skin and soft tissue infections, and urinary tract infections caused by pneumococci, streptococci, staph, H. influenza, M. catarrhalis, E. coli and P. multocida

Ampicillin and sulbactam

Ampicillin and sulbactam are used to treat:


meningitis caused by listeria monocytogenes.



Decubitus and diabetic foot ulcers caused by gram positive and anaerobic organisms.



Endocarditis caused by streptococci and enterococci.



Lyme disease caused by borrelia burgdorferi

Piperacillin + tazobactam and ticarcillin + clavulanate

these combinations are used to treat intra-abdominal infections, skin and soft tissue infections, pneumonia and other infections caused by aerobic and anaerobic organisms, including pseudomonas aeruginosa

Cephalexin

Skin and soft tissue infections caused by streptococci and staphylococci

Used to treat intra-abdominal, gynecologic, biliary tract infections caused by aerobic and anaerobic bacilli.

Cefdinir, cefprozil, cefuroxime axetil

Used to treat respiratory tract, skin and soft tissue infections.



Major pathogens: pneumo, H. influenza, M. catarrhalis

Ceftriaxone

Infections: Gonorrhea, urinary tract infections, otitis, meningitis, pneumonia, lyme disease.



Major pathogens: gonococci, pneumococci, meningococci, B. burgdorferi, H. influenza, other gram negative bacilli

Ceftazidime

Urinary tract infections, pneumonia, others.

Cefepime
