Blastocoel
Fluid filled cavity in the animal hemisphere of the blastula.
Blastopore
A dimple in the blastula 180degrees from the point of sperm entry.
Ectoderm
Outer layer of cells.

Precursor to epidermis, brain and nervous system.
Endoderm
Inside layer of cells.

Precursor to gut and respiratory system.
Mesoderm
Middle layer of cells. Some entered the blastopore.

Precursor to connective tissue, blood, heart, skeleton, gonads and kidneys.
Notocord
Rod of mesodermal cells at the most dorsal position of the embryo.
Neurula
Embryo with a formed notochord.

The notochord signels to the dorsal ectodem cells telling them they will become the nervous system.
Neural Tube
Dorsal epidermis cells elongate, stretch and fold to become a tube situated just dorsal to the notochord.
Somites
Mesodermal tissue adadjacent to the neural tube.

Precursor to the back muscles, spinal vertebrae and dermis.
Dermis
Inner portion of the skin.
