What is MSDS?
(material safety data sheet) Information compiled by a manufacturer about its product, ranging from ingredient content and associated hazards to combustion levels and storage requirements.
What are bacteria?
One-celled micro organisms with both plant and animal characteristics; also known as microbs
Name and descried the two main classifications of bacteria.
-Pathogenic: causing disease or harm
-Nonpathogenic: not disease producing: not harmful
Name and describe the three forms of pathogenic bacteria.
-Bacilli: Short, rod shaped. Most common bacteria. Produces disease such as tetanus, typhoid fever, tuberculosis and diphtheria.

-cocci:round bacteria that apears alone or in groups. Causes pneumonia, boils, strep throat

-Sprilla:spiral or cork screw-shaped bacteria that causes syphillis, lyme disease, and other diseases
How are viruses diffrent from bacteria?
viruses live onl by penetrating cells and becoming part of them, while bacteria can live on their own
how dose aids affect the body?
it breaks down the immune system
how are aids transmitted?
can be transmitted throught unprotected sex, sharring of needles, cuts and sores in skin
What is a contagious or communicable disease?
spreads from one person to another through contact
what is the difference between a local and a general infrection?
local:confined to a particualor part of the body indicated by a leasion containing pus

-general infection: infection that results when the blood stream carries pathogens and their toxins to all parts of the body
define immunity and name the two types

how do you disinfect linens?
Laundering in hot water and detergent, with bleach or lysol added to rince water
how do you disinfect electrical tools that cannot be immersed?
spray or wiping with an EPA- registered, hospital-grade disinfectant specifically made for electrical equipment
how do you disinfect work surfaces?
use an EPA_ registed cleaning product designed fro surfaces. The efficacy label states what is appropriate fro such surfaces as floors, countertops, toilets, towels, sinks, and the like.

1.always follow manufacturer recommendations for mixing and using
2. always wear gloves and saftey goggles
3.always add disinfectant to water
4.use tongs, gloves, or a draining basker to remove implements
5.never pour quate, phenol, alcohol, or any other disinfectant over your hands
6.never place any disinfectant or other product in an unmarked container
descride the procedure for taking care of an exposure incident.
stop service, wear gloves, clean the injured areas with antiseptic, bandage the cut with an adhesive, clean workstation, descard contaminated objects. disinfect tools, remove your gloves
what are universal precaustions?
set of guielines and controls, busblished by OSHA. assume that all human blood and specifed human body fluids are infectious for disease.
