What is matter?
Anything that has mass and takes up space.
What is mass?
A measurement that reflects the amount of matter
What is weight?
A measure of the amount of matter and also the effect of Earth's gravitational pull on that matter.
What is the difference between mass and weight?
Mass remains the same no matter where it is, while weight changes as it's position on Earth changes.
Why do scientists use mass instead of weight for their measurements.
Because mass remains the same no matter where on Earth the measurement is taken.
How would your mass and weight differ on the moon?
??
What is the Systeme Internationale d'Unites (SI Units)
internationally accepted unit of measurement: a unit adopted for international use under the Système International d'Unités in science and technology
What is a base unit?
A defined unit in a system of measurement that is based on an object or event in the physical world and is independent of other units.
What are the 7 SI Base Units and what do they measure?
meter (length)
kilogram (mass)
second (time)
ampere (electric current)
kelvin (temperature)
candela (luminous intensity)
mole (amount of substance)
How do you convert Celsius to Kelvin?
K = C + 273.15
How is a derived Unite different from a base unit?
A base unit is is independent of other units while a derived unit is a combination of base units.
What is the formula for density?
Density = Mass / Volume
What is the formula for mass?
Mass = Density x Volume
What is the formula for volume?
Volume = Mass / Density
Accuracy
How close a measured value is to the accepted value.
Precision
How close a series of measurements are to one another.
Wat is the law of conservation of mass?
Mass is neither created not destroyed in a chemical reaction.

The mass of the reactants equals the mass of the products.
