Methods of Supervision.

The essential part of supervision is if a collaborative working relationship with supervisees has been established.
Styles of Supervison
The hope is that the supervisor will provede autonomy without overwhelming the supervisee. It is a good idea to foster a reflective and questioning approach that leads to self initiated discovery. One of the most important goals for clinical supervisor is to promote the supervisee's self awareness and ability to recognize personal charateristic that could have a negative impact on the therapeutic relationship. And again legal concerns may lead supervisors to a more controlling and direct supervision but liability issues should not prevent supervisors from giving theri best efforts toguiding their supervisees.
Ethical isues in Supervision.
Ethical guidelines most frequent violated involved adequate performance evaluation, confidentiality issues relevant to supervision, and ability to work with alternative perspectives. Trainees felt that their supervisors did not provide adequate evaluotion of thier conseling performances.
