Navigation Acts
Passed in the 1550s, they regulated trade between England and it’s colonies. Closed all foreign pots to Colonial merchants and goods could only be shipped on English or Colonial Ships. But, it increased the colonial shipbuilding and provided a steady market for colonial goods. Some negatives were the colonists saw it as an intrusion into their rights to free trade
Yankee
A nickname for merchants that implied they were clever and hard working.
Triangular Trade
The three legs of the route formed a triangle.
First leg- fish, lumber, other goods
Second leg- rum, guns, gunpowder, cloth and tools
Third leg- enslaved Africans
