Lusitania
A passenger ship that was sunk by German U-boats off the coast of Ireland. Carried many Americans, 128 Americans died.
Taking of the Canal Zone
Roosevelt literally did just that. When Colombia wouldn't agree, America supported a rebellion. Panama became a separate country and America built a canal. We eventually repaid Colombia.

The convention between Colombia and America that settled the terms of the lease on the canal zone. Results ratified by Senate but rejected by greedy Colombians who wanted more.

The political party in Russia led by Vladimir Lennin which created the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics Overthrew the previous government of a form of monarchy.
Sedition Act
An act which was passed that made criticizing the government illegal, clearly unconstitutional.
Espionage Act
An act which made treason (Sabotage) harshly punished.
Wilson's Fourteen Points
Wilson's goals at the Paris Peace Conference that he wanted in the treaty. Didn't manage to get all of them and a few were compromised upon.

A treaty which authorized the building of a treaty through Panama and a canal zone to be established.

A method within a legislative body where one member can obstruct the passage of legislation.
Trench Warfare
A method of warfare in which soldiers defended trenches and every so often got up and attempted to defeat the enemy within trenches across a zone known as No-Mans Land. Very bloody. (Battle of the Somme)
Liberty Bonds
Bonds issued by the American government to finance the war effort in the First World War.
Treaty of Versailles
The Peace treaty that ended the War to End All Wars. Wasn't ratified by the Senate.
