Acapella is a vocal work without instrumental accompaniment

Polyphony in regards to Acapella is based off of the principle of imitation

Imitation : Musical ideas are exchanged between vocal lines, the voices imitating one another so that the same phrase is heard in different registers.

Cantus Firmus: (A fixed melody) Served as the foundation of a work. Supporting the voices that wove around it..
