tissues
group of cells w/ common embyronic origin that function together to carry out specialized activities
What are the various types of tissues?
Bone, fat, liquid.
histology
study of microscopic anatomy of cells and tissues, a branch of pathology, each cell type has features particular to its function!
tight junctions
found where leakproof seal is needed, like stomach and bladder.
adherens junctions
make adhesion belt that keeps tissues from separating as they stretch and contract. ex intestines.
cadherin
glycoprotein that forms belt like plague in adherens junctions
desmosomes
use cadherin gycoprotein plus intermediate filaments to hook into the cytoplasm, where high amt of tension is needed like heart.
gap junctions
pores that allow small substances like ions to pass between cells, cell communication
what are the four basic types of tissues?
epithelial, connective, muscular, nervous.
epithelial tissue
covers body surface or organ
connective tissue
support, protect, bind
muscular tissue
generate heat and force
nervous tissue
detect changes and respond w/ nerve impulse
what are the 3 primary germ layers the tissues of the body develop?
endoderm, mesoderm, and ectoderm
ectoderm
nervous tissue develops from this
mesoderm
c.t and muscle derived from this
what tissue is from all 3 germ layers?
epithelial
